Ayyanar Coffee & Tea Company

Down in Melapalayam, specifically at 13 West Car Street, is where you’ll find Ayyanar Coffee & Tea Company. Being in Nellai Town means we are right in the thick of things. The street is often busy with people going to the temple or just doing their daily shopping at the local markets. We’ve got a mix of coffee and tea going on here. Most of us have lived in this town our whole lives, so we know most of the faces that walk through the door. It’s not a corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a shop where we spend our days weighing out tea leaves and grinding coffee beans for the regulars. The equipment we use is pretty old, but it still works fine if you treat it right. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, so we have to keep everything covered up and clean. We talk a lot while we work, mostly about local news or what’s happening in the neighborhood. It’s a friendly enough place, though it can get a bit loud when the grinders are going full speed in the back. We don't really do any advertising. People just know we are here because we’ve been on West Car Street for so long. It’s a simple life, just making sure everyone gets their morning fix of whatever they like to drink before they start their day.
