Our place is at 25, East Coast Road in Veppalodai. Being right there on the ECR means we see a lot of traffic passing by all day long. Asv Minerals is a straightforward operation. We handle mineral processing and storage right here by the coast. The air always has a bit of salt in it because we’re so close to the water. It’s a tough environment for machinery, so we spend a lot of time cleaning and greasing things. The yard at number 25 stays pretty busy from Monday to Saturday. We have a small crew, mostly local men from around Veppalodai. We start early because the coastal heat gets intense by eleven o'clock. There is no big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the wall. We handle the materials as they come in, sort them out, and get them ready for the next truck. Sometimes the rain slows us down, especially during the monsoon months when the ECR gets messy. We just sit under the tin roof and wait for it to pass. Most of our day is spent checking the weight of the loads and talking to the drivers. It’s not a complicated business, but it requires being on your feet all day. We’ve been part of this little stretch of road for quite some time now. People know us as the guys who are always covered in dust. We just keep moving and making sure the trucks are filled up right.
