Our place is located at 269/7 on Palayamkottai Road. If you know the area, you know this road gets a lot of traffic throughout the day. We spend a lot of our time looking out at the vehicles going by. It’s a straightforward shop. We didn’t put a lot of money into fancy carpets or expensive paintings. Instead, we have solid counters and enough lighting so people can see what they are looking at. The Palayamkottai Road area is pretty lively, so there is always something happening outside our door. We start the day by pulling up the heavy metal shutters. It takes a bit of muscle. Once inside, we get the fans running to move the air around. We’ve had the same furniture for a while now, and it shows a little wear, but it is comfortable enough. Most of the people who come in are from the local neighborhood or are just passing through on their way across town. We don’t do much in the way of big advertisements or flashy signs. We just keep the door open and wait to see who stops in. Sometimes it is busy, and other times we just sit and talk among ourselves about the weather or the latest news. It is a regular job in a regular part of town, and that suits us just fine. We like the familiarity of the street and the people we see every day when we are standing near the entrance.
