Annai Book Club

Annai Book Club is tucked away at 3 Bharathiar Street in Senthil Nagar. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time. The shelves here are pretty much overflowing with books. We have spent a lot of years stacking things wherever they will fit. It smells like old paper and ink inside, which is something you either like or you don't. We don’t have a computerized system for everything, so sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a person is looking for. It’s more of a place for people who actually like to read rather than just buy something shiny. We’ve got regulars who come in just to see what’s new on the piles. Senthil Nagar is a good spot for us because it feels like a real community. We aren't trying to be a giant bookstore with a cafe. We just have books and a few chairs if you need to sit down for a second. The lighting isn't the best in the back corners, but we know where the switches are. It’s mostly just about keeping the stories circulating. Some of the covers are a bit faded from the sun coming through the front window. We don't mind. It shows they've been waiting for someone to pick them up. It’s a slow-paced kind of life here on Bharathiar Street. We just keep the doors open for anyone who needs a good read and a quiet place.
