About Sunday Biryani – Food & Beverages in Tiruchirappalli
We are right across from the Sangam Hotel, which makes us pretty easy to find if you're walking around. Sunday Biryani is just what it says on the sign. We spend most of our time in the kitchen dealing with big pots of rice and meat. It gets hot in there, especially during the lunch rush when the steam fills up the room. We aren't a big fancy restaurant with waiters in uniforms. It's just a few of us making sure the food is ready on time. My brother helps with the chopping and I handle the spices we get from the market down the road. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but you get used to it. We started this because we liked the recipe our family used for years. It isn't complicated. We just cook and serve. The benches are a bit worn out from people sitting there every day, but they work fine. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just see the smoke from the stove and come in. It’s a lot of work every morning getting the fire started and making sure the meat is tender enough. If we run out, we just close for the day and go home. That’s how it is. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now. Most people know us by name. It’s a decent living and we like seeing the same faces every week.
