Our shop, Sri Kumarappa Pattu Centre Private Limited, is located at 187/1 in Anna Nagar. We are right on the Viralimalai Road in Manapparai, which falls under the Trichy district. We mostly deal with Pattu, which is silk, and it is a material that needs a lot of care and attention. The building isn't anything modern, just a solid place where we keep our stock and talk to people who come in. We have been in this part of Tamil Nadu for a while, so we know the local tastes pretty well. It gets very hot here, so the stone floors feel good on your feet. We don’t go in for big advertisements or anything like that. People usually find us because they’ve heard about us from someone else in town. The shelves are filled with different colors and patterns. Sometimes we spend hours just folding and unfolding things. It is slow work in some ways but very busy in others. We have a few people working here who have been with us since the start. We drink a lot of coffee from the stall nearby and just keep things moving. It's a simple life, focused on the quality of the silk we handle every single day. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just a local spot for silk.
