Soda & Soda

You can find us at 56, Chinna Kadai Veedhi. It’s right in the heart of the market area, so it’s never quiet. There are people selling vegetables and clothes all around us. Soda & Soda is just a small storefront, really. We don’t have much room inside, so we have to be very organized with how we stack our stuff. Most of the work happens in the back where the machines are. It gets loud and a bit damp back there. We’ve been on this street for quite a while, and we’ve seen shops come and go. We just stay put. The name is simple because we didn’t see a need for anything complicated. We sell what we make and that’s it. In the evenings, the street gets really packed, and sometimes it’s hard to even get the delivery cart through the crowd. We just wait for a gap and push through. Our customers are mostly locals who are out doing their shopping. They stop for a quick drink and a bit of a rest. We don’t use any fancy talk or try to sell people on things they don’t need. If they’re thirsty, they come in. If not, they keep walking. It’s an honest business. We do our best to keep things clean and keep the bottles moving out. It takes a lot of muscle to move the full crates, but we are used to the heavy work. We just take it one day at a time here.
