Our little office is tucked away at 19/1 on Heber Road, right in the Palakarai area. It’s an old part of the city, and the streets are always crowded with shoppers and rickshaws. We’ve been in this building for quite a few years now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the wooden desks have seen better days, but it’s home to us. We handle a variety of things here, mostly general trading and keeping track of supplies for local clients. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning and glass walls. We have ceiling fans that creak a bit and windows we keep open to get a breeze from the street. The noise from Heber Road is constant, but you stop noticing it after an hour or two. We have a lot of regular people who stop by just to settle an account or ask for a bit of advice on an order. We keep all our records in big ledgers and some on an old computer that takes its time to start up. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don't go in for anything too formal. Usually, there’s a pot of tea going and some biscuits if anyone is hungry. We just try to be helpful and get through our list of tasks before the sun goes down. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve grown used to.
