We’ve been here at number 36 on Chinnakadai Street for a while now. It’s a busy spot, always something happening outside the door. If you know P. B. No. 328, that’s where we handle most of the mail and paperwork. The shop itself is usually full of the sound of people talking or the small clinking of metal. We deal with gems and jewellery mainly for export, so there’s always a lot of packing and weighing going on. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights and velvet everywhere. It’s more of a workspace where we get things done. My father used to say that the street hasn't changed much in decades, even if the shops around us have. We spend most of our mornings checking the inventory and making sure everything is ready for shipping. Sometimes the courier is late, and we just sit around and have tea while we wait. It’s a simple life here in the market. Most of our staff have been with us for years, so we all know how each other takes their coffee. We don’t really do much advertising because people just know where we are. If you walk down Chinnakadai Street, you’ll see our sign. It’s a bit old now, but it still works. We just focus on the stones and the gold and making sure the counts are right before the boxes get taped up. That’s pretty much what happens every day from Monday to Saturday.
