Mohan Studio

You can find Mohan Studio at No. 125- B on the Palakarai Main Road. Being on the main road means we get a lot of dust and noise, but it’s where all the action is. We’ve seen a lot of businesses come and go on this street while we’ve stayed put. Our shop is a bit traditional. We still have some of the old ways of doing things mixed in with the new digital stuff. There is a specific smell to a photo studio, a mix of electronics and paper, and our place has that in spades. We spend our mornings cleaning the glass and checking the printers. By afternoon, the light hits the street in a certain way and we get more people walking in. It’s a small space, so it can get a bit cramped when a whole family comes in for a group photo. We just move some chairs around and make it work. Palakarai is a place with a lot of history, and we feel like a small part of that. We aren't doing anything revolutionary here. We just take photos for the people who need them, whether it’s for a school admission or a wedding album. It’s a job that keeps us busy and connected to the people living around here. We just try to keep things simple and honest. The fan in the corner makes a bit of a rattling sound, but it keeps us cool enough.
