Maheswari Thirukoil Book Stall

We are tucked away in the Singer Plaza, specifically at 49G-11, and have been running Maheswari Thirukoil Book Stall for quite some time now. Singarathope is always moving and we are just one small part of that daily rush. Most of the books we keep on the shelves are the ones people around here look for regularly. It isn't a very large space but we manage to fit quite a lot in. Sometimes it feels like the paper and the ink have their own smell that just stays in the room no matter what. We don't have any fancy displays or anything like that. It is just rows of books and us sitting behind the small wooden counter. Usually the mornings are quiet before the plaza really wakes up and then by afternoon the noise from the street starts coming in through the front. We spend a lot of our day just organizing things that customers moved around or dusting the top shelves where the old stock sits. It is hard work keeping everything in order when there is so much coming in and out every week. People stop by on their way somewhere else, maybe looking for a specific spiritual book or just something to read on the bus home. We know most of the neighbors pretty well by now. If you are walking around Singer Plaza you have probably passed us without thinking much of it. We just keep doing what we do.
