We set up shop in the Ayyappan Complex, specifically at C164. This is on Ezhil Nagar Road in Tiruverambur. Jai Nagar is right nearby, so we get a lot of locals coming in or calling us up. M K Cabs is a straightforward taxi business. We aren't a big app-based company with thousands of cars; we are just a local group. Our office in the complex is where we coordinate the drivers and take the bookings. It’s a simple room with a few phones and a place for the drivers to sit and have a coffee while they wait for their next trip. The complex gets pretty busy during the day, so there’s always a lot of coming and going. Tiruverambur is a good spot for us because it’s a gateway to many other parts of Trichy. We know the shortcuts and the back roads that help avoid the worst of the traffic on Tanjore Main Road. The cars need a lot of maintenance, so we spend a fair bit of time talking to mechanics too. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We try to be reliable so that people in the neighborhood keep coming back to us. We don't have a big marketing budget, so most of our customers are people who live around Jai Nagar or work in the local industries. It’s just us, working hard to keep the wheels turning.
