Gayathri Driving School

You can find us over at 7/5, Meenakshi Complex on Mk Puram Main Road in Madurai. Being right opposite to Jeyavilas makes it easy for people to spot us when they come for their lessons. Gayathri Driving School has been operating out of this small office for a while now. The walls are covered with some old traffic sign posters and a big calendar that we use to mark down who is driving which car. Madurai traffic is no joke, so we spend a lot of time out on the hot roads teaching people how to handle the clutch without stalling in the middle of a busy intersection. The mornings are usually the busiest because it is a bit cooler then. We have a couple of cars that we keep running, though they need a lot of maintenance because of all the gear shifting beginners do. Our office in the complex is a bit cramped, especially when three or four people show up at once to fill out their paperwork for the license. We usually have the fan going at full speed to deal with the heat. It is a lot of waiting around for tests and helping people understand the basic rules of the road. It’s honest work and we see all kinds of people, from young kids to older folks finally deciding they want to drive.
