Ayyan Coldrink

Ayyan Coldrink is a small shop at 16, Bathu Kovil Street. It’s a narrow street, and we are right there in the middle of it. I’ve lived around here my whole life, so I know most of the people who walk past the door every day. The shop isn't much to look at, just a counter and some old fridges. We sell cold drinks because this town stays warm for most of the year. People stop by when they are thirsty or just want to chat for a minute. I don't have a big staff, it’s mostly just me and sometimes a younger relative helping out when I need a break. We don’t have a mission statement or any of that marketing talk. We just open the shutters in the morning and close them at night. The street can get quite busy during the temple festivals. That’s when we are the busiest. It’s hard on the feet, standing all day, but it’s okay. We keep the drinks cold and that’s the main thing people care about. The floor is concrete and the shelves are a bit old, but they hold the stock just fine. We don't try to be fancy or act like we are bigger than we are. It’s just a local shop on a local street. We know our place in the community and we’re happy with that. It's just a way to make a living and talk to neighbors.
