Al-Thaj Travels

Our office is in J J Towers on Madurai Road in Palakarai. It’s a very busy part of the city. There are shops all around us and the sound of horns is constant. We are in one of the units inside the building. It’s not a very large space, just enough for us to sit and do our work. We do travel bookings, mostly for people going to other cities. We use the computer to look up schedules and prices. Sometimes the prices change while we are talking to the customer, which can be a bit of a headache. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture. Just some basic desks and chairs. We’ve been in Palakarai for quite a while. Most of the other shop owners in J J Towers know us. We drink tea from the stall downstairs a few times a day. Al-Thaj Travels is a small business. We don't have a big corporate team. It’s just a couple of us who know how to get the tickets booked. Sometimes the building gets a bit hot in the afternoon because the sun hits the front. We just turn on the fans and keep going. People come in with all sorts of travel questions. We answer what we can. It’s a busy life but we are used to the pace of Madurai Road.
