Adupai Spices

Our little shop, Adupai Spices, is sitting at 6/4, Nethaji Road in Anna Nagar. We are right near the Kalyani Fancy Stores, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find us for the first time. The street is usually pretty busy with people running errands or going to the market. We have a small storefront that we try to keep tidy, though the bags of stock usually end up spilling over into the walkway. It’s a tight fit inside once you get a few people in there at once. We have a small back room where we keep the bulk items and do most of the weighing. The light in there is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept by heart. Most of the staff here have been around for years, so we have a rhythm to how we handle the daily rush. We start the day by sweeping the pavement outside and setting out a few of the smaller containers to show what we have. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or glass displays. We use old plastic bins and wooden crates for most of the storage. On rainy days, the roof leaks a tiny bit near the corner, so we have to remember to move the electronics out of the way. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep up with the neighborhood’s needs. We close up around eight and head home. It's just how we run things on Nethaji Road.
