Sikaram Export

If you look for us, we’re right on Periyamariyamman Kovil Street, number 7/7 B. It’s right near the temple, so we get to hear the bells and the music pretty often, which is nice but can be loud when we’re trying to talk to clients. Sikaram Export is basically just a small team of us working out of this space in Devanankurichi. Most of the time, the floor is full of samples or boxes waiting to be taped up. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running full blast. We handle a lot of different products, whatever people are asking for from other places. It’s a lot of back and forth with the transport guys and making sure the trucks can actually get down the street without getting stuck. The neighbors are used to us by now, even when we have a lot of movement. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. It’s just a couple of desks, a computer that’s seen better days, and a lot of coffee cups. We do our own packing most of the time because we want to see it’s done right. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring sometimes. We just focus on getting things shipped out. It's funny how much paperwork goes into just sending one small crate halfway around the world, but that’s the job we chose to do every day.
