Maharaja Appliances Limited

Our factory for Maharaja Appliances Limited is located at 12/11, Lenin Nagar in Kovilpatti. It’s a straight shot down Mandhithopu Road. The area is quite industrial, so we fit right in with the other units around us. Inside, there is usually the hum of machinery because we are busy putting together different household appliances. It’s not a quiet place to work. We have people on the assembly lines and others checking the parts. We aren't much for fancy decorations; the walls are mostly covered with safety posters and production schedules. The workers here are mostly from the local town and have been with us through thick and thin. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we all have to scramble to fix it so we don't fall behind. We have a small office upstairs where the phones are always ringing. Kovilpatti can get very hot, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning before the sun gets too high. We drink a lot of water and keep the vents open to catch whatever breeze we can. It is a basic setup. We make things that people use in their kitchens every day. We don't spend money on big advertisements; we just focus on making sure the boxes are packed right and the trucks leave on time. It's a long day, but we are used to the routine and the noise of the factory floor.
