Muthu Machine Works

If you find yourself on P.N. Road, you probably know how loud and busy it gets near the 60 Feet Road corner. That is where Muthu Machine Works is located, right at No. 150. We are quite close to Kumaran Park, so sometimes we take a little walk over there when the noise of the machines gets to be a bit much. In the workshop, there is always the smell of oil and the sound of metal being worked on. We have all kinds of machines here, and we spend most of our hours fixing parts or making something specific for a customer who walked in with a broken piece of equipment. It is not the cleanest job, our hands are usually stained with grease by ten in the morning, but it is what we know how to do. The corner where we are situated is a bit of a landmark for people in this neighborhood. We see the same faces every day, from the rickshaw drivers to the shopkeepers next door. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. It is just the floor where the work happens and a small desk for the paperwork. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon makes the workshop feel like an oven, but we keep the fans going and stay busy. People come to us because they know we have been on this road for years and we do not make a fuss about small repairs or custom jobs. It is just life.
