We are set up on the ground floor of the Ram Trades Complex, specifically at number 50. It’s on NGR Road in Tirupur, right near the back of the bus stand. Because of the location, there’s always a lot of foot traffic and buses rumbling by at all hours. It makes for a busy atmosphere, which is good for a place like ours. Being on the ground floor is handy because we don’t have to lug heavy things up any stairs. The complex is a bit older, so you might see some peeling paint or a cracked tile here and there, but it’s a solid place to work. Inside, it’s mostly shelves filled with parts and bits of equipment. It’s not always the tidiest place, especially when we’re in the middle of a busy week, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of time looking through catalogs and checking inventory. Customers come in looking for specific things, and we do our best to find what they need in the stacks. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. We’ve been here for a while and the people who work in the other shops nearby are good neighbors. It’s a simple life of managing spares and talking to people who stop by. We just focus on the task at hand and keep things moving. The smell of oil and metal is always around, which we’ve stopped noticing. Sometimes a bus breaks down right outside and it gets even louder with all the shouting, but that’s just part of being near the bus stand. We’ve got a small stool for customers to sit on while we look for their parts. It’s not much, but it’s better than standing. We keep a ledger for everything because it’s easier than relying on the old computer we have.
