Khonsa Aroamkhoam Farmer Producer Company Limited

Khonsa Aroamkhoam is a farmer-run company based in Lapnan village, which is just outside of Khonsa in the Tirap district. We are all people from this area who have spent our whole lives working the land. Lapnan is a good place with good people, but like a lot of places in Arunachal Pradesh, we struggle with getting our crops to the markets where we can get a fair price. That is really the only reason we started this producer company. We wanted to have a way to talk to buyers as a group. When you are just a small farmer with a few bags of rice or vegetables, nobody really listens to you. But when we all stand together, we can get things done. We do not have a corporate office or a staff in suits. We are usually just wearing our work clothes and meeting in the village to talk about the weather or the state of the roads. The name Aroamkhoam means something to us locally, and it represents how we want to work together. We focus on what we know, which is farming the traditional way. It is hard work and the hills are steep, but it is what we know how to do. We are just trying to make sure the farming families in Lapnan can keep going for another generation without having to leave the village for work.
