Iocl Hospital

Down in Digboi, you will find the IOCL Hospital. It is pretty much a staple of the town since so much here revolves around the refinery and the company. The hospital building itself has that old, solid look to it that you find in older industrial towns. It is not a modern glass tower, but it has thick walls and high ceilings. We serve the people who work here and their families, mostly. The pace is steady. Some mornings are quiet, and other times the emergency area gets a bit hectic. We have different wards for different things, and the hallways are long and painted that standard hospital green or beige. The gardens outside are actually quite nice, though the maintenance crew struggles with the weeds during the monsoon. We have doctors and nurses who have lived in Digboi their whole lives. It is a tight-knit place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We don't have a marketing department or a fancy website. We just have a duty to the people in this corner of Assam. The medical equipment is what we need to get by, and we do our best with the resources available. It is a community hospital in the truest sense. People come here because it’s where they’ve always gone when they feel under the weather. If the power goes out, we have generators, but the hum of the refinery is always in the background. It is just a part of the landscape here and we keep doing our work.
