Hahi Foundation

We are based in Bamhukuta Gaon, which is right near the NIA in Duliajan. The foundation is run out of Ratna Gopal Gogoi’s house. Duliajan is usually a busy town because of the industry, but our corner is a bit more relaxed. We chose the name Hahi because it means something special to us, but we do not go around bragging about it. We are just a small group of local people. We do not have a big corporate budget or a team of highly paid experts. It is just us trying to help out where we can. Sometimes that means organizing a small community event or helping a neighbor get the right paperwork for a project. It involves a lot of legwork and walking around. We spend a lot of time visiting people in the village and just talking to see how things are going. You will not find us wearing suits or formal clothes. We are usually just in our everyday gear, and we probably look a bit tired by the end of the day. The office is really just a simple room with some chairs and a few stacks of notebooks. We try to keep track of everything, but it can get a little messy when a lot of people drop by at once. We are not looking to become a huge national organization. We just want to do right by the people here in Duliajan. It is honest work.
