Gohain Tea Farm

Our farm is in the village of Puthahula, which is part of the Lahowal tehsil. We are located right near Bokel High School. Sometimes when the wind is right, you can hear the children playing or the bell ringing between classes. Working on a tea farm means we are outside a lot of the time. The weather dictates what we do each day. If it rains, we have to change our plans, and if it is too hot, we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. We have lived in this village for a long time and the farm is just a part of the landscape here. The tea grows in rows and we spend our days checking on the plants and making sure the soil is okay. It is not like a factory job; it is more about being patient and watching things grow. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Our workspace is just a simple building where we keep the tools and some of the dried tea. Most of our neighbors are also farmers, so we all understand the rhythm of the work. When school lets out, the road gets a bit crowded with students, but otherwise, it is very peaceful. We produce the tea right here and we take pride in the fact that it comes from our own ground. It is just basic farming and hard work every day.
