Down on Tingrai Hoogrijan Road in Sewpur, that’s where you’ll find our tea company. Deodarshan Tea Co. Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this spot for some time. It’s a dusty road, especially when the trucks go by, but it’s home for us. We spend our hours checking on the batches coming through. It's not a corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s mostly concrete floors and the sound of machines or people shouting to be heard over the work. We handle a lot of tea here. Some days it feels like we’re just moving piles from one side of the room to the other, but there’s a system to it. The weather in Sewpur can be tough on the leaves, so we’re always watching the sky. If it looks like rain, everyone moves a bit faster. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy website. We just focus on the tea sitting in front of us. Most of the staff live nearby, so we all know each other's families. It makes the day go by a bit quicker when you can joke around while you work. We drink a lot of tea ourselves, mostly just to see how the flavor is before it goes out. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning till night. Most days we don’t even notice the time passing because there is always another crate to move or a log to sign. It’s just the way it is here on the road to Sewpur.
