Shau Academy

People around Barana know where we are. We have been sitting here on the Main Road for a while now. It gets pretty dusty when the trucks go past, but that is just part of being in Palera. Shau Academy is a simple building, really. We spend most of our mornings opening up the shutters and sweeping out the front before the sun gets too high. It is quiet in the village until the kids show up. Tikamgarh weather is either too hot or just right, so we manage. Inside, the rooms are plain. We have the usual desks and chairs. There is nothing fancy here, just a place for learning. Most of the staff live close by, so we walk or take a cycle to work. We know the neighbors and they know us. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows to get some air. We do not have a big fancy gate, just the one on the Main Road. It is a bit loud with the traffic sometimes, but it is our spot. We try to keep things organized but it gets messy by the afternoon with all the papers and bags everywhere. That is how a school should look, anyway. We just keep doing what we do every day, making sure the gates are open on time and the chalk is ready for the boards.
