Alok Dall Mills

Out here in Village Banda Belai, things move a bit slower than in the city, but the mill stays busy. Our address is right in the post office area of Banda Belai in Sagar. We spend the day processing dall, which is what everyone around here needs. It's a lot of work handling the machines and making sure the lentils are split right. My family has been involved in this kind of stuff for a bit, and staying in the Tehsil Banda area makes sense because we are close to the farms. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy place to keep the machines dry and the grain safe. We deal with farmers coming in and out all the time. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry the crops, and that slows us down, but we just wait it out. It gets pretty hot in the summer inside the mill. I usually have tea with the drivers while they wait for their loads. It's a simple setup we have. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, just some guys who know how to run the mill. Most people in the village know where we are if they need anything. I spend a lot of time fixing belts and cleaning the sieves. It's honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until the sun goes down. It's been like this for years and we just keep going.
