Zamorins Health Retreat Private Limited is located out in Porkalengad, near Guruvayur. It’s a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the main town, but that’s kind of the point of a retreat, isn’t it? We spend most of our time keeping the grounds tidy and making sure the guests have what they need for their stay. It’s very quiet out here compared to the rush around the temple area. You can hear the birds and the wind in the trees most of the time. The building itself is simple, nothing too modern or flashy, which seems to suit the people who come to visit us. We have a small staff and we all end up doing a bit of everything, whether it’s helping with the food or sorting out the room bookings. Sometimes the power goes out when the monsoon hits hard, and we have to go around with torches, which the guests actually seem to find quite peaceful. It isn't a high-pressure environment. We just want people to feel okay while they are here. The name Zamorins has some history to it, but for us, it’s just the place where we work every day. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or big ads. Most people hear about us from someone else who stayed here. It’s a slow way of living, and we try to keep that atmosphere for everyone who walks through the gate in Porkalengad, away from the noise.
