Xavier'S Ayur Clinic

Being out in Thiroor, Xavier'S Ayur Clinic has a much quieter feel than most places. The clinic itself reflects that atmosphere. We focus on Ayurvedic treatments, so the whole place usually smells like oils and dried herbs. It’s a very different smell than a regular hospital. We have a few wooden tables for the treatments and some shelves lined with jars and bottles. The building isn't new, and you can see a bit of wear and tear on the doorframes and the windows. Thiroor is the kind of area where word of mouth is the most important thing, so we see a lot of people who were told to come here by their neighbors. The pace of work is a bit slower here. We take our time with the consultations, and there’s no rush to get people in and out. The waiting area is just a few chairs on the porch where people sit and look out at the trees. We don’t have fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in big ledgers. It feels more personal that way. Sometimes the rain in Thiroor gets really heavy, and we have to close the shutters and work by lamplight if the power goes. It’s a simple life and a simple clinic, just doing things the traditional way. We’re just here in Thiroor, taking things one day at a time with our patients.
