Laasus Institute Of Art Craft

If you walk down Kunnathmana Lane, you’ll find us near the Vivekodayam School. It is a nice spot because it stays relatively quiet compared to the main roads. We have art supplies scattered all over the tables most of the time. There are jars of brushes and half-empty paint tubes everywhere. You can usually tell what we were working on by looking at the stains on our hands. The floor has a few marks from spilled ink that never quite came out, but that’s just how an art place is supposed to look. We spend a lot of time preparing materials for the next group of people. Since the school is right there, we see a lot of students walking past our door every afternoon. Sometimes they peek in to see what is being made. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Just the door and the smell of paper and glue inside. On rainy days, the lane gets a bit muddy, so we have to remind everyone to wipe their feet well before they come in. We have a few shelves where we put the finished crafts to dry. It is a simple life here, just working with our hands and trying to keep things from getting too messy, though we usually fail at that. It’s a good kind of mess, though, the kind that shows people are actually doing something. We just enjoy the quiet work.
