We have been running this CCTV business out of our small shop at 57, Azhapuzha in Kottayam for several years now. It is a quiet enough spot most of the time, though the road gets a bit noisy during the school run in the mornings. Most of our days are spent untangling cables, testing out monitors, or talking to folks who are worried about their shops or houses being left alone at night. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. Instead, we have a desk piled with tools and some shelves where we keep the latest cameras and recorders. It’s just a handful of us here, and we usually know everyone who walks through the door by name. Sometimes we’re out on the road all day fitting systems for people, so the shop might be closed for a bit, but there is usually someone around to answer the phone. We deal with all sorts of tech, from basic cameras to the more complicated setups that need a lot of wiring. The weather in Kottayam can be a bit of a challenge with the rain, so we spend a lot of time making sure everything is sealed up tight. It is simple work but it keeps us busy. We try to keep things honest and just tell people what will work for them without making things more complicated than they need to be. The tea shop next door is where we spend our breaks when we aren't chasing wires.
