Panikulangara Estate

Up here in Vattiar at the Panikulangara Estate things move a little slower than they do in the city. We are based in Anakkulam and the view is mostly green trees and hills. It’s a lot of physical work being out on the land every day. Depending on the season we might be planting or harvesting or just clearing out the brush that grows so fast in the rain. The weather is the main boss around here and we have to follow whatever it says. If it pours down we just stay inside and fix the tools or catch up on the paperwork that we usually ignore. It’s a family-run thing and everyone chips in when it’s time to get the crop moved. The air is fresh which is the best part of being out this way. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning. We just have the dirt and the plants and the daily cycle of the sun. Sometimes wild animals come wandering near the edges of the property which can be a bit of a problem. But mostly it is just us and the land. People around Vattiar know the estate well since we’ve been here for a long time. It’s a hard way to make a living sometimes but it’s what we know how to do best. We just keep our heads down and work the soil as the months go by.
