You can find us at Max Gallery inside Chembakassery House at Aluka Angadi. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned building, which gives the place some character. We’ve got stuff everywhere, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what you’re looking for. It’s not one of those sterile shops where everything is behind glass. We like it that way. It feels more like a home than a business most of the time. The floors creak when you walk on them, especially near the back. We spend a lot of our time just organizing and dusting. There’s always something that needs to be moved or tucked away. Aluka Angadi is a lively area, so there’s always noise coming in from the street. We usually have a radio playing in the background to drown out the traffic. Most of our regulars just stop by to say hello even if they don’t need anything. We’ve been here long enough that everyone knows our names. Sometimes the light bulbs flicker and we forget to change them for a few days. It’s just us running things, so we do what we can. We don't have a big corporate plan. We just open up in the morning, see who comes in, and close when it’s time to go home. It’s a simple life, and we’re happy with it here at Chembakassery House.
