You can find us at Kolattu House in Amballur, which is in the Alagappanagar area of Thrissur. We have a bit of a different setup here because we do both farming and tours. It’s Kolattu Agro Farms And Tours Private Limited on the official papers, but to us, it’s just our family land. We grew up here and decided to make a business out of what we already do. The agro part involves looking after the crops and the soil, which is a full-time job on its own. The tours started because people were interested in seeing how a farm works in this part of Kerala. We aren't professional guides with scripts. We just walk people around and show them what’s growing and talk about the trees. It’s all very informal and relaxed. Our office is mostly just the house or a chair under a tree. We don't have a corporate structure or a bunch of managers. It’s just a few of us handling everything from planting to bookings. Sometimes the weather is bad and the tours have to stop, or the crops don't do as well as we hoped. That’s just life on a farm. We enjoy meeting new people who come to visit. It’s a quiet life in Amballur, and we’re happy to keep it that way. We aren't trying to be a big tourist destination, just a working farm where people can visit.
