Kalpaka Plastics Pvt.Ltd is situated on Katukuzhi Road in Thaikkattussery, which is part of the Ollur area. It is a bit quieter out here compared to the big cities, but our factory is always buzzing. We have several machines that run almost constantly, turning out different kinds of plastic goods. The smell of melting plastic is something you get used to after your first day. Our workers mostly come from the local villages nearby, so it feels like a close-knit group. We have a big yard where the raw materials are kept in large sacks. When the machines are running, the whole building vibrates a little bit. We don't have any fancy brochures or a glossy website. We just focus on making sure the molds are clean and the plastic is setting correctly. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we all have to pitch in to get it fixed quickly so we don't fall behind. The office is just a simple room with some old filing cabinets and a computer that is a bit slow. We keep track of everything on paper ledgers too, just to be safe. It is a practical business where we worry more about the way the final products come out than how the building looks from the road. We are just a local factory trying to do a decent job every day of the week, regardless of how much it rains outside.
