Crangannore Nidhi Limited. We operate out of Illathuparambil House in Kodungallur. The address is 41/421. It’s more of a home-turned-office vibe here in Thrissur. Most days start early with a bit of cleaning and opening up the shutters. Being a Nidhi company means we deal with a lot of savings and small loans for people we mostly already know. Kodungallur is a busy place, but our corner stays relatively calm. We have some old cupboards for the files and a few chairs for when people need to wait. It isn’t some high-tech office with glowing screens everywhere. We use notebooks and a computer that’s seen better days. The rain in Kerala hits the roof pretty loud during monsoon season. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait it out with a torch. People come in to deposit their small savings or ask about getting a little help for a wedding or a house repair. We know most of the families around here by name. It’s a simple way of doing things, keeping the money within the community. The house has a bit of a garden out front that needs weeding, but we focus more on the ledger entries inside. It’s just how things go here at 41/421. We stay until the work is done, then lock up and head home. Nothing fancy, just honest work in our local neighborhood. We like it here.
