Cosmo Books

If you are ever down by the North Bus Stand on Paliyam Road, you might have seen Cosmo Books tucked inside Mangla Towers. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a good number of years. It’s a convenient location because people are always coming and going from the buses, and they often pop in to grab something to read for their journey. The tower itself is a bit of a landmark in this part of the district. Inside our shop, it's mostly just piles of books and narrow aisles where you have to squeeze past other customers sometimes. We don't have those big computer systems or fancy displays you see in the city malls. We just know where everything is, more or less. If someone asks for a specific title, we usually have a good idea of which stack it’s buried under. The light in here isn't the best, especially towards the back, but it feels cozy enough. We get all sorts of visitors, from students looking for textbooks to older folks wanting a newspaper or a magazine. The noise from the bus stand travels up here, so there is always a background hum of engines and people shouting. It’s just how things are on Paliyam Road. We open up early and stay late enough for the last commuters. It's a lot of work keeping up with the inventory, but it keeps us busy and the day goes by fast.
