Our office is known as Kochu Sowdam and it’s located in Pazhayannur, which is in the Thrissur district. Amstel Overseas Private Limited is run from here. It’s a quiet area, away from the big city noise, which we mostly like for our day-to-day work. We handle overseas trade, so even though we are in a rural spot, we are always thinking about other countries and shipping ports. The building has a lot of character and feels more like a home than a sterile office. We don't have a lot of employees, just a handful of us who know each other well. Most days are spent tracking shipments and dealing with the bank for transfers. It can be a bit slow at times when the international markets are quiet or on holiday. Then suddenly, it gets very busy and we are all hands on deck until late in the evening. Thrissur is a place where people value honesty in business, and we try to stick to that. We don’t have a flashy website or a big neon sign outside. Just the name on the door and some files. Sometimes the internet acts up because of the heavy rain, but we manage to get our emails out eventually. We’ve learned to be patient with the process. It’s a steady way to live and work. We enjoy the pace of life here while still being connected to the world through our daily trade.
