Our current base is in the C1 Telephone Staff Quarters near Vandigate in Chidambaram. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for an engineering firm, but it works for us for now. We do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to technical projects around the area. Engineering is mostly about solving problems that pop up unexpectedly on a job site. You think everything is planned out, and then you hit a rock or a pipe isn't where it’s supposed to be. That’s where we come in. We spend a lot of time looking at drawings and then going out to see if the reality matches the paper. Most of the time, it doesn’t quite match, so we have to adjust things on the fly. We aren't afraid of getting our boots dirty or staying out late. Chidambaram is a small place, so news travels fast if you do a bad job, which keeps us on our toes. We have a small team and we’ve worked together for a long time, so we know each other's habits well. Sometimes we argue about the best way to do a weld or a layout, but we always figure it out in the end. It’s not a glamorous life, but there is something nice about seeing a structure go up and knowing you helped make sure it stays standing. We keep our tools organized, or at least we try to, even when things get really busy and messy.
