Kani Co.

If you head down Ittamozhi Road in Sathankulam, you’ll find us at 226/125. It’s a busy road with a lot of dust and noise from the buses passing by all day. We’ve been running Kani Co. from this building for quite some time now. We sell a bit of everything that people around here need for their homes and daily lives. The shelves are usually packed tight, and sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for. We don’t have a fancy computer system to track everything; we mostly just know where things are by heart. The mornings are usually the busiest when people are out doing their shopping before the sun gets too hot. We spend a lot of time talking to the regulars who come in every week. It’s more of a community thing than just a shop. Sometimes we sit outside on the bench when it’s quiet and just watch the traffic go by. The building itself is old and has seen better days, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain off. We try to keep things simple and just provide what’s needed without any extra drama. Working here means you get to know everyone in Sathankulam eventually. We just stay open until the sun goes down and then lock up and head home like everyone else. It's a steady life and we are happy with how things are going on our little corner.
