Jeya Garments

We are located over at VOC Nagar, specifically on 1st Street, number 39/3A. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main roads, but there’s still plenty of life around here. Our place is basically a big room where we do all the work. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning in every corner. We have our machines lined up and enough light to see what we are doing. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. We start our mornings by opening up the shutters and getting the air moving. It’s a practical way of working. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to tell us how to talk to people. We just talk like we always do. If someone comes by, they usually just find us busy with the thread and needles. There’s always a pile of scraps on the floor by lunch, but we clear it up before we head home. The street outside has a few other small shops, and we all help each other out if someone needs a hand. It’s an honest way to make a living. We don’t promise anything grand, we just show up every day and do the sewing and the packing. It’s just what we do here in VOC Nagar. Some days are slow and others are a bit of a rush, but we manage it.
