Cethar Vessels Limited

Out here in Periyasamipuram, specifically in the Vembar area, things are a bit different from the big cities. Cethar Vessels Limited has this spot on South Street, 1/91. It’s in the Tuticorin district of Tamilnadu, so you can imagine the coastal air and the salt. The office is pretty basic. We have a few rooms and a lot of space for the stuff we handle. It isn't a place with glass walls or air conditioning in every corner. We mostly keep the windows open. You can hear the goats outside sometimes or the sound of a motorbike passing by. It’s a quiet life compared to Chennai or Madurai. We get our work done without much fuss. Everyone knows everyone else in the village, so there’s no point in acting like we are some big mysterious corporation. We are just the people working at the end of South Street. Some of us have been here for years and know exactly where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. We take our breaks, talk about the local news, and then get back to it. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We don’t have a mission statement hanging on the wall. We just have the work that needs to be finished before the sun goes down and we all go home. The salt in the air sometimes makes the equipment rusty, but we deal with it and keep moving.
