Arul Memorial Clinic

Tiruchendur Road is always full of people traveling back and forth, and being right by the Old Collector Office makes us a bit of a landmark. Arul Memorial Clinic is sitting there at No. 2, and it’s a spot we’ve grown very fond of over the years. The building is older, with thick walls that keep out some of the heat, which is a blessing in the afternoons. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment or high-tech gadgets cluttering up the place. It’s just a few consultation rooms and a waiting area with some wooden benches that have been smoothed down by years of people sitting on them. We see a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to other towns, as well as the locals who have lived near the collector office forever. The routine is the same every day: we open the shutters, sweep the front step, and get the water cooler filled up. There’s always a bit of dust because of the road, so we’re constantly dusting off the desk and the chairs. We don't use big words or try to act like we're more than we are. It’s a clinic where you can come in, say what’s wrong, and see a doctor without a lot of red tape. We like the simplicity of it. It’s just us and the people who need a bit of help. We'll be here as long as the road is busy.
