Working at No-35 Railway Station Road in Ambasamudram is an interesting experience because of the trains. You can hear them coming and going all day long at Jbkl Export. It gives us a sense of time without even looking at the clock. The office is right there on the main stretch, so we see everyone walking toward the station in the morning. We have been in this building for a good bit of time now. It’s an old structure with high ceilings, which stays relatively cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We handle exports, which sounds complicated but it’s mostly just keeping track of numbers and making sure the trucks arrive on time. Sometimes a shipment gets delayed and we have to stay late into the night to sort it out. There isn’t much in the way of decoration in here, just some calendars and maps on the walls. We usually get tea from the stall across the street twice a day. It’s a small team, so everyone knows what everyone else is doing. We don't have a big corporate hierarchy. If something needs to be moved or cleaned, whoever is closest just does it. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes in. It’s a quiet life in Ambasamudram, and we like it that way. We don't need much else besides a working phone and a steady stream of orders to keep us going.
