Even though the name says General Motors India Pvt Ltd, Pune., we are actually located down in Chennai. Specifically, we are at E 78 on 2nd Cross St in Thiruvalluvar Nagar. This is the Thiruvanmiur area, so we are not too far from the beach. You can feel the humidity here most of the year. It’s a residential-looking street with a lot of trees. We have a small gate and a little yard in the front where we park the scooters. It’s a different vibe than Pune, for sure. We use English and Tamil mostly in the office. The fans are always on. We deal with the work that comes in from the main branches. It’s mostly paperwork and coordination stuff. We don't have a big factory here. It’s more of a quiet branch office. The neighbors are nice, mostly families who have lived here for decades. Sometimes the salt air makes the metal parts of the office rust a little bit, so we have to paint them. We usually have filter coffee in the afternoons. It’s a staple for us. We don’t have any big corporate signs. We just have the address on the door. It’s a steady place to work. We like the quiet of the 2nd Cross St compared to the main roads. It keeps us sane during the busy weeks. We shut the lights off when the evening sea breeze starts to pick up.
