Ushus Ayurvedic Clinic

Out in the Neduvanvilla area of Parassala, you will find Ushus Ayurvedic Clinic. We are a bit away from the main hustle of Trivandrum, which suits us just fine. The air out here is a little fresher, though it still gets very hot in the middle of the day. Our clinic is a simple building with a small porch where people sometimes sit if the waiting room is full. Inside, it always smells like sesame oil and various dried roots and herbs because that is what we work with all day. We have lots of glass jars and plastic containers on the shelves, all filled with different things we’ve prepared. The wooden benches in the waiting area are sturdy, even if they aren't the most comfortable things to sit on for an hour. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that; usually, someone just pokes their head in to see who is next. We do a lot of our work by hand, grinding things down or mixing oils. It’s quiet work for the most part, except for the birds outside or the occasional motorbike passing by on the road. People from all over Parassala come to see us, often bringing news from their part of town. We just keep things moving at our own pace and try to stay organized with our handwritten ledgers and small paper packets.
