Our office is at G.J Bhavan in Perumaram. It’s over in Vizhinjam which is near Trivandrum. Kerala is a beautiful place to work especially being so close to the coast. We are technical architects but we don't act like we are better than anyone else. Most of our days are spent at the drawing board or walking around dusty sites in the sun. Vizhinjam is a busy area with the port and everything else going on so there’s always some kind of movement. We have a small setup here. It’s mostly just us and our equipment. We talk to a lot of local people who want to build something new or fix up an old structure. We don’t use a lot of fancy words when we talk to our clients. We just explain what can be done and how much it’s going to cost. The weather can be a bit of a challenge with the heavy rains we get here, so we have to plan our work around the seasons. It’s a quiet life for the most part, apart from the noise of the traffic outside. We’ve been in this spot for a bit and people know us by now. We just want to do a decent job on the buildings we design. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on at G.J Bhavan.
