Kattakada is a small place, and we’re right here by the post office area. This institute has been a part of my life for years. We do Ayurvedic stuff and Panchakarma, so the whole building usually smells like medicinal oils and herbs being boiled down. It’s a scent you get used to, and I actually find it quite calming after a while. The pace here is a bit slower than the big cities, which fits what we do. People come from the surrounding villages and sometimes further away. We have rooms for staying over if the treatment takes a few days. I spend a lot of time making sure the treatment rooms have fresh linens and that the herbal stocks are full. It's a lot of manual work, grinding things and mixing oils. The staff here is like a small family. We eat lunch together when there's a break. The building itself is simple, nothing too modern, but it works for what we need. Sometimes the power goes out in Kattakada, but we have a backup and we just carry on. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to. Most of our day is spent talking to patients and preparing the treatments. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset.
