Santha Paint House

We’ve been located at the G.P.O. Junction for quite some time now, and you can’t really miss the spot if you're in the area. Santha Paint House is pretty much what the name says. We have stacks of cans everywhere and the smell of thinners and pigment is just part of the air here. It’s an old building, so it has its quirks, like the squeaky door and the way the light hits the back shelves in the afternoon. People come in with all sorts of scraps of paper or old cloth trying to match a color they saw somewhere. We spend a lot of time mixing and stirring, trying to get it just right. It’s messy work, and most of us have paint on our clothes or under our fingernails most of the time. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and carpets. It’s a practical shop where painters and homeowners come to get what they need for their projects. The G.P.O. Junction is always noisy with traffic, but we’ve stopped noticing it after all these years. We just focus on the customers and the cans. Sometimes we run out of a specific shade and have to wait for the next delivery, which is just part of the business. We keep a ledger of what we sell and try to keep the dust off the lids, but it’s a constant battle. It’s just a normal local shop that has been around for a long time.
