People around Kumarapuram know where we are. It’s a busy enough spot, but once you step inside the hospital, things quiet down a bit. We’ve got these wooden tables for the oil treatments and the smell of herbs is pretty much everywhere, it even sticks to our clothes after a long shift. The building isn’t brand new or anything, but we keep it tidy. Most mornings start with us checking the stock of oils and making sure the treatment rooms are ready for the first few people who show up. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise, but nobody seems to mind much. We aren't trying to be some high-end spa; we just do the traditional Ayurvedic work like it’s been done for years. Patients come in with all sorts of aches, and we do what we can with the massages and the powders. There is a small desk near the entrance where we keep the registers, and the ledger is usually a bit messy because we’re always writing things down in a hurry. Outside, you can hear the local traffic, but the thick walls help keep the heat out during the afternoons. We usually have a bit of tea in the back room when things slow down around three. It’s just a normal place where we work hard and try to help the folks who walk through the door looking for some relief from their stiff joints or whatever else is bothering them.
